Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are an excellent option when you still have some healthy natural teeth. They consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-coloured base, connected by a metal or flexible framework that clasps onto your existing teeth for support. Partial dentures fill the gaps left by missing teeth, keep remaining teeth from shifting and restore your ability to chew and speak comfortably.

Implant-Supported Dentures

For added stability, we offer implant-supported dentures that snap securely onto dental implants. This helps eliminate slipping and improves chewing ability. Your dentist can explain whether implants are possible in your case, and you can request a free implant analysis, currently available at our office.

Dentures, Bridges or Implants?

If only one or two teeth are missing, a bridge from our crowns and bridges options or an implant may be better than a partial denture. Dentures are often the right solution when many teeth are missing. A consultation lets us compare options in plain language.

Getting Used to Your New Dentures

Adjusting to dentures takes time and patience. In the first few weeks you may notice minor soreness, extra saliva and a different feel when you speak or eat. These changes are normal.

• Start with soft foods cut into small pieces and gradually add firmer foods.
• Practise speaking by reading aloud so your tongue and muscles adapt.
• Attend your follow-up appointments so we can make adjustments for a perfect fit.

Adjustments and Relines

As your mouth changes over time, dentures can loosen. We provide adjustments and relines to maintain comfort and fit, so you do not have to live with slipping or sore spots. If a tooth needs to come out before dentures are made, we can plan tooth extraction and sedation if you wish.

Adjusting to New Dentures

It takes time to get used to dentures. Eating and speaking may feel different at first, and mild sore spots can appear as the mouth adjusts. Start with soft foods, cut food into small pieces and practise reading aloud to help with speech. Follow-up adjustments are a normal part of the process, so call us if something feels uncomfortable.

Keeping Dentures Clean

Remove and rinse dentures after eating, brush them daily with a soft brush and a non-abrasive cleanser, and soak them overnight as directed. Clean your gums and tongue too, and keep up with regular dental visits so the fit and your oral health can be checked. Dentures can change in fit over time as your gums and bone change, so a loose denture is always worth a visit.

Before Your Visit

• Tell us about any sore spots, loose teeth or problems with existing dentures.
• Bring your current dentures if you have them so we can assess fit.
• Share your goals for eating and speaking so we can design around them.
• Bring your insurance or CDCP information so we can arrange direct billing.

After Your Treatment

• Remove your dentures at night as your dentist advises and keep them in water or a recommended solution.
• Clean them daily with a soft brush and denture cleanser, not regular toothpaste.
• Brush your gums, tongue and any remaining teeth every day.
• Keep follow-up visits for adjustments.
• Call us if you have sore spots that do not settle, a loose fit or cracked dentures.
